The Jeep® brand’s “6th Man” contest honors two individuals who have made a positive impact in their community. The team at Orlando Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM Ram, a Jeep dealer serving Sanford, is proud to carry such a giving brand.
This years winners, Steven Diaz and Denise Moore Toth were recognized as the USA Basketball Men’s National Team honorary ’6th Man’ and ’6th Woman’ during the July 12 USA Basketball exhibition game in Las Vegas. Each winner will receive $20,000 to donate to the charity of his or her choice. Sanford Jeep drivers are proud of their Jeeps, and this type of donation gives them even more reason to be proud of the brand.
The Jeep brand’s Facebook fans nominated Steven and Denise. The two were submitted because they exemplified their “Power Within” by serving others in their communities through personal sacrifice, humble spirit, integrity, courage and leadership. Jeep drivers in Sanford are proud of the obstacles these two individuals were able to defeat.
Three men and three women finalists were selected, a professional production team shot a two-minute video vignette of each finalist in his/her hometown. Steven Diaz, the ‘6th Man’ honoree, was severely injured during Operation Iraqi Freedom and spent more than a year and a half in a hospital recovering from his wounds. After recovery, Steven was unable to return to duty. Although he could have turned away from the armed forces, Steven decided to help fellow veterans and their families who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
The ‘6th Woman’ honoree, Denise Moore Toth was laid off from her job nearly five years ago, but continues to prefer selfless acts. Denise dedicates her time, money and spirit to serving the homeless of Cleveland. She has built a strong ministry for the homeless that operates solely on the generosity of others. Denise cooks and prepares more than 70 hot meals every Saturday that she delivers to the homeless.
